AALPUM, the Sonora Grape Growers Association, hosted their Spring Grape Summit on March 22, 2023 in Tubac, Arizona. Among the full afternoon of speakers, FPAA Grape Division Chairman John Pandol spoke about market trends impacting the industry, and Georgina Felix moderated a panel with officials from the Arizona Department of Agriculture, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Safe Border Trucking Association.

At the end of the speaker sessions, AALPUM presented crop estimates for the 2023 spring grape season. AALPUM Board President Marco Camus talked about the upcoming season explaining that AALPUM worked with all the producers to develop the projections. They will be updating projections again in late April, closer to the start of the season.

Below are the estimates from AALPUM. We have also attached their presentation that includes timing for promotable volumes of the different grape categories, with estimates indicating that grapes will be in full swing with promotable volumes from around Memorial Day to mid-July. We look forward to working with all of you to make help make the 2023 a success. Thank you to Sergio Lugo from AALPUM and his team for including the FPAA in this event.

If you have any questions or things you would like to discuss pertaining to the upcoming grape season, please reach out to us. Also, please stay tuned for scheduling for regular FPAA Grape Division meetings as the season gets underway.
