The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas is fully supportive of S. 1253, the Securing America’s Ports of Entry Act, which aims to address critical staffing shortages and improve trade and travel facilitation at ports-of-entry. The FPAA recognizes the importance of efficient border operations for the safe and timely movement of goods and people, as delays and uncertainties can significantly impact supply chains and economic growth. By increasing the authorized number of CBP officers by 600 annually, along with necessary staff, this legislation would help alleviate current staffing shortfalls and meet the growing demands of international travel and trade. The FPAA believes that these measures are vital for enhancing America’s global competitiveness and fostering new economic opportunities throughout the country.
