On behalf of FPAA President, Lance Jungmeyer:
You might have noticed. As of last night, the trucks are rolling right onto I-19.
The ramps connecting I-19 to SR/189 Mariposa Road are officially open, and the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas would like to congratulate all parties involved in this game-changing infrastructure development.
“The State of Arizona, and the fresh produce industry, just made a small leap forward in everyday efficiency with the opening of these ramps at I-19 connecting to the Mariposa Port of Entry,” said FPAA President Lance Jungmeyer. “Nogales is the original gateway of Mexican fresh fruits and vegetables to the United States, and still the best. Now our businesses will be more efficient and our roads safer.”
The FPAA would like to note the efforts of Governor Doug Ducey, the Arizona State Legislature, Santa Cruz County and the City of Nogales for their vision and direction in helping fund the project with allocations from the Overweight Truck fee. FPAA also would like to congratulate and applaud the efforts of other organizations and the many private citizens. FPAA also appreciates the efforts of the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Arizona State Transportation Board to bring this project to fruition.
An official ribbon-cutting for the project will be announced soon. Stay tuned for details.
Congratulations Nogales. Let’s keep those trucks rolling!
Below is an announcement from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) regarding the opening of SR 189 ramps.
