During the PMA Fresh Summit the members of the North America Produce Food Safety Working Group met for their biyearly meeting. The food safety agencies of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada briefed the attendees on their food safety regulations. During the meeting it was discussed the work that Mexico and Canada are doing to reach equivalency of their organic standards. Additionally it was discussed a proposal for a trilateral comparison of fresh produce safety requirements, to which the industry propose to work with experts of the three countries to have a better understanding of their regulations. The next meeting of the North America Produce Food Safety Working Group will take place at the Spring Policy Summit in Tubac, AZ on March 20, 2018.
