Media
In today’s world of increased focus on obesity, nutrition, the food supply and agricultural and growing practices, the Fresh Produce Association of the Americas (FPAA) is a valuable resource to media outlets regarding the availability of healthful fruits and vegetables from Mexico. The FPAA is also the leading resource for information on the advanced growing practices used on farms in Mexico, statistics on produce crossings, and business trends in the produce industry.

Family operated farms in Mexico have been supplying the American consumer with delicious, quality produce for over 100 years. In fact, Mexican farmers are vital in supplying consumers with a wide variety of produce items throughout the winter months. Tropical climates in Mexico also give rise to marvelous mangos and crunchy grapes during the spring and summer months. Let us know if you have any questions about our latest news releases listed below. FOOD WRITERS TOUR
In addition to speaking with reporters and consumer communicators about the varieties, uses, availability and quality of Mexican produce, the FPAA holds an annual Food Writers Tour to the growing regions in Mexico each February. Originally started in 1999, the Food Writers Tour has evolved to include not only reporters, but other people that regularly communicate with consumers about news and trends related to food.

Are you an avid food reporter that has ever wondered about the birthplace of your refreshing cucumber, your succulent eggplant, or your juicy tomato? Are you a business writer that wants to understand the economic and social importance of fresh fruits and vegetables shipped to the U.S.? Do you have a television or radio show where you would like to feature stories about fruits and vegetables? The FPAA takes you to the fertile growing valleys in Mexico to show you how your winter supply of produce is nurtured from seed to harvest.

On our Food Writers Tour you will visit farms, packing facilities, worker and family housing and educational facilities, and science centers. You will spend time with growers, agriculture specialists, food science professors, and government officials that will give you a full picture of Mexico’s important produce community. Lest we forget, you will also enjoy Mexico’s winter sunshine and beautiful landscape.

Past participants include writers from national magazines, large and regional newspapers, and food industry magazines. Participants also have included television and radio personalities, members of the American Dietetic Association, chefs, and consumer affairs directors from major retail chains across the U.S. If you are interested in our annual Food Writers Tour or would like help organizing your own trip to Mexico, we encourage you to contact Allison Moore at the FPAA.
